About Me

A life shaped by the sea, a home found in Switzerland.

I have spent much of my life crossing borders, learning from different cultures, and discovering how differently people see the world. Today, I call Switzerland home. Through Longma Vacations, I share the country I have come to know, not simply as a destination, but as a place full of stories, people, and unexpected connections.

Learning from the sea

Before discovering Switzerland, I learned to navigate the world.

My professional life began at sea. After studying Marine Navigation at Shanghai Maritime University, I worked aboard large container ships, eventually serving as a Third Officer. Life at sea taught me much more than navigation. It taught me responsibility, patience, teamwork, and the importance of staying calm when circumstances change unexpectedly.

On a ship, people from different countries work together in a confined space, often far from home. Communication matters. So does understanding the person standing beside you. You learn to look beyond differences and focus on what people can accomplish together.

The sea also gave me a different perspective on the world. From the bridge of a ship, borders become less visible, while the connections between countries, economies, people, and the natural environment become impossible to ignore.

The sea taught me how to find my way. It also taught me that understanding a place begins with understanding the people who live there.

Finding a home

Switzerland became more than a place to live.

Moving to Switzerland opened a new chapter in my life. I came to know a country that brings together different languages, cultures, landscapes, and ways of life within a remarkably small area.

Living here has taught me to appreciate the details that are easy to miss when travelling quickly: the character of a small town, the traditions behind a local festival, the quiet rhythm of village life, and the relationship between people and their surroundings.

I live in the canton of Fribourg, a region where French and German cultures meet. It is a particularly meaningful place for someone interested in languages, identity, and the ways people share a common home despite their differences.

Over time, I realised that I wanted to do more than show visitors famous landmarks. I wanted to help them understand something of the country behind the photographs: its everyday life, its cultural nuances, and the stories that make each place distinctive.

Beyond the landscape

Understanding our relationship with the world.

My curiosity eventually led me back to university. At the University of Fribourg, I completed a master's degree in Environmental Sciences and Humanities, exploring questions at the intersection of environmental issues, ethics, and human relationships with nature.

My academic work encouraged me to look beyond the obvious. A landscape is never just scenery. It is also an ecosystem, a cultural memory, a place of work and belonging, and sometimes the setting for difficult questions about how we should live.

This perspective continues to shape the way I travel and work. I believe that meaningful travel does not require us to consume more experiences or rush through more places. Sometimes, it asks us to slow down, pay attention, and become curious about what we might otherwise overlook.

To discover a place is not only to see what is there, but to begin asking why it matters.

How I work

Professional, thoughtful, and personal.

Longma Vacations brings together the different experiences that have shaped my life: international work, cross-cultural communication, language learning, academic research, and a genuine interest in people and places.

I work with international visitors who want to explore Switzerland comfortably and meaningfully. Some need reliable private transport. Others appreciate help with languages, travel arrangements, local context, or putting together a trip that reflects their own interests. Every traveller arrives with a different story, and I believe the service should reflect that.

I speak Chinese natively, work in English, and continue to develop my French through everyday life in Switzerland. Having experienced the challenges of living between languages and cultures myself, I understand how reassuring it can be to have someone who listens, explains, and helps things run smoothly.

Reliability

Good service begins with keeping your word, respecting your time, and taking responsibility for the details.

Understanding

Every traveller has different expectations. I take the time to listen before suggesting what might work best.

Local perspective

Beyond the familiar highlights, I enjoy helping people discover the character and diversity of Switzerland.

Thoughtful travel

I value quality over quantity and believe that a good trip leaves room for curiosity, connection, and discovery.

The idea behind Longma

More than getting from one place to another.

Longma takes its inspiration from the Chinese cultural imagination and the symbolism of the dragon and the horse: strength, vitality, movement, and the courage to explore new horizons.

For me, the name also reflects a personal journey. From China to the open sea, and from the sea to Switzerland, every chapter has brought new places, new questions, and new ways of understanding the world.

I created Longma Vacations to bring these experiences together in a practical and personal way. My aim is simple: to help visitors feel at ease, discover Switzerland at their own pace, and leave with memories that mean something to them.

I do not believe every trip needs to be extraordinary. Sometimes, the most memorable moments are the conversations along the way, the village you had not planned to visit, or the view that makes everyone fall silent for a moment.
